Daily Responsibilities

  • Technologies Supported: TSM, Avamar, Netbackup, Networker and Commvault.
  • Monitoring the backup environment for successful scheduled client backups and archives.
  • Monitoring Backup Servers for scheduled maintenance task completion.
  • Monitoring various critical clients for performance and successful completion of operation.
  • Identifying and troubleshooting the backup environments for any threshold breaches.
  • Identifying and troubleshooting backup environment for any performance issues.
  • Identifying and troubleshooting missed/failed maintenance tasks.
  • Identifying and troubleshooting missed/failed backups.
  • Keeping check on scratches and disk pools to keep up with the capacity requirements.
  • Identifying and troubleshooting tapes and drive issues.
  • Identifying and troubleshooting tape library issues.
  • Help system administrators with configuration/troubleshooting of backup clients.
  • Help system administrators with initiating restores and retrieves.
  • Generate daily and monthly reports showing statistics for client activities on servers.

Job Description

Working with Data Backup Services that provides automated data backup and management services for local area network (LAN) attached multi-vendor workstations, personal computers, application servers, and file and print servers on a 24/7 basis. Backups of incremental data are cached to disk storage, offload to tape media based on automated data management policies, and copies delivered for off-site storage. I joined in Data Backup Services from June 02, 2008.

Backup Technologies I worked on include TSM, Netbackup, Avamar, Arcserve, Networker and Commvault. Acquired proficiency in automating various reports using TSM OR Reporter, shell scripts, batch scripts, VB Scripts and Java Scripts.

Started working with PerotSystems in the Global Helpdesk from January 2006. Gained over 4 years’ experience in customer handling over the phone in B2B environment and helping the users in resolving the technical issue in corporate applications including Windows OS, Office Suite, Remedy and Peoplesoft. Helpdesk provides technical guidance in activities associated with the identification, prioritization, and resolution of reported problems by telephone. Activities include recognition, research, isolation, resolution, and follow-up steps. Screens, refers, and diagnoses internal inquiries and work requests as they relate to maintenance of personal computers utilizing experience and understanding of Perot Systems' MIS environment. I Prepared help desk incident reports and assisted in hardware and software evaluation. This involves use of problem management database and help desk system.

My role included to resolve the technical issues and ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction. Also, writing technical documents for the troubleshooting to add to the Knowledge Base Database of respective product. I worked from January 30, 2006 to May 30, 2008 with Helpdesk and then moved to Data Backup Services.
